About this file

This is a Technical Specifications document for a Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer procurement by the DLA Product Test Center's Mechanical Lab in Columbus, Ohio.

The DLA seeks an off-the-shelf handheld XRF analyzer to expand testing capabilities for metal alloy composition, coating composition, and coating thickness measurement. Minimum specification requirements include: device dimensions not exceeding 12"(L) x 5"(W) x 12"(H), weight no more than 4.5 lbs including battery, high-resolution silicone drift detector (SDD), X-ray tube with Ag or Rh anode, X-ray generator rated 6-50kV with 0-200µA and 4-watt output, minimum 4-position filter wheel, 3mm collimator spot size, element detection range from Mg to U, color touchscreen display, minimum 100-reading data storage capacity, integrated camera with 5-image minimum storage, and software with PC compatibility incorporating calibration packages for General Metals, Precious Metals, Coatings, Mining, Electronic Alloys, and Plastics applications with specified element libraries for each category. The device must include XRF battery charger, AC adapter (110v), and two rechargeable batteries.

Services required include one-day onsite installation, setup, calibration, and training for up to five DLA employees. The contractor must provide instrument certification with NIST Traceable ANSI/NCSL Z540.1 data certificate as applicable and ensure service availability from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. The warranty covers parts, labor, and travel for two years. Pricing must include shipping and delivery to the DLA Product Test Center in Columbus, Ohio. The period of performance is 120 days from award date, and invoices must be submitted through Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) per DFARS Clause 252.232-7006. The DoDAAC is SL0702.

Technical Specifications Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer

DLA Product Test Center, Mechanical Product Test Center

Objective:

To obtain a Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer to continue and expand the

Product Test Center’s (PTC) testing capabilities for its customers. This portable instrument will enable the PTC to make determinations on composition of metal alloys and coatings, and for measuring thickness of coatings. The XRF Analyzer shall be provided as an off-the-shelf product without the need for additional post-installation research, development, and validation. The Analyzer shall have all hardware, accessories, and software for performing qualitive and quantitative elemental analysis across much of the periodic table.
