Design and Install Four-Screen Display and AV Touchscreen Kiosk at Camp Nelson NM

Statement of Need (SON)
Camp Nelson National Monument Interpretation, Education, and Visitor Services 6614 Danville Road Loop 2 Nicholasville, KY, 40356
Introduction/Background Camp Nelson National Monument [CANE] PMIS 336300 for WASO IEV FY24 “Off Cycle” I&E was approved for funding.
The project funds and installs an Interactive Digital Exhibit in the Reconstructed Barracks at CANE. It features a digital touch-screen kiosk and 4 screens for visitors to navigate historic databases, maps, and images.
Place of Performance The cannon will be installed and displayed in the Barracks Building, a reconstructed wooden structure that features interpretive exhibits within the boundaries of Camp Nelson National Monument.
Current Infrastructure The Building Barracks features the Soldiers and Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Exhibits that are currently open to public visitation 5-7 days per week. The exhibit (Touchscreen and 4-Screen Displays) will be incorporated into the current exhibit space.
Work Requirements As part of this exhibit design and installation, the vendor will be responsible for performing tasks throughout various stages of this project. The following is a list of tasks which will result in the successful completion of this project:
1. The contractor will collaborate with NPS staff to design data featured in interactive touchscreen and four-screen displays.
2. Four-screen displays will feature eye-catching five-minute looping video (with audio description) consisting of period photography, footage, and motion graphics, that will set the tone for the interpretive experience.
3. The interactive touchscreen will allow visitors to navigate historic databases, maps, and images, including the enslaved population per county across the US, the enlistment percentages per ethnic group per county, and the military service records of US Colored Troops, featuring enlistment dates, location, occupation, and other biographical information. The exhibit provides an interactive and accessible research database for visitors, especially descendants of US Army soldiers, to trace the genealogy of their ancestors at Camp Nelson, the 3rd largest USCT recruitment center during the Civil War.
4. The data can be maintained and updated by NPS staff at CANE.
5. The exhibit is 508 accessible for visitors in the park and online via the park website; vendor creates online database for park website.
6. The contractor will work with NPS staff to determine the electrical power required to support digital exhibits.
7. The contractor will install exhibits in Barracks Building.
8. The contractor provides all data for CANE.
Installation Installation will be arranged within fourteen (14) calendar days of award of contract. The COR and Park Contact will provide access to the required areas upon request.
Acceptance Criteria Once all project tasks been completed, the Chief of Interpretation will examine the cannon and criteria to ensure all specs have been met.
