About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of ASR-9 Beacon Cable Replacement Kits by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The FAA requires conversion kits to support modifications to the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configuration at Airport Surveillance Radar Model 9 (ASR-9) facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) implementation under the Radar System Replacement (RSR) Program. The existing rotary joints at ASR-9/ATCBI-5 sites lack sufficient signal paths for RSR architecture integration and must be converted to the configuration used at Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S) equipped ASR-9 sites through installation of a kit developed by AJW-1433 that replaces existing beacon cables. The work is divided into two contract line items (CLINs): CLIN 001 for one first article unit and CLIN 002 for an option to purchase up to nineteen (19) production units. The contractor must furnish all labor, facilities, equipment, and materials to procure and package parts listed in Attachment 1 into a kit. The first article unit must be delivered no later than 90 days after receipt of order, with the FAA conducting visual inspection within 30 days to determine conformance. Upon first article approval, the contractor becomes an approved source, with production units due no later than 180 days after notification of approval. Preservation, packaging, and packing must comply with Provision 61. The Contracting Officer's Representative is Brandon Brumley from the Radar Technical and Program Support Branch (AJW-L910).

STATEMENT OF WORK
Procurement of ASR-9 Beacon Cable Replacement Kit
1. BACKGROUND
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified a requirement to procure conversion kits to support modifications to the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configuration at Airport Surveillance Radar Model 9 (ASR-9) facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) implementation under the Radar System Replacement (RSR) Program.
The rotary joints currently installed at ASR-9/ATCBI-5 sites do not provide the number of signal paths required to support integration with the RSR architecture. To achieve compatibility, the existing rotary joints must be converted to the configuration utilized at ASR-9 sites equipped with the Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S). This conversion requires the installation of a kit developed by AJW-1433, which replaces the existing beacon cables.
