About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the Federal Aviation Administration's procurement of ASR-8 Weather Path Kit conversion kits to support modifications to Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator systems at Airport Surveillance Radar facilities.
The FAA requires the contractor to fabricate and deliver conversion kits that add an additional signal path to existing rotary joints to accommodate Weather Signal transmission, enabling compatibility with the Radar System Replacement Program architecture. The scope includes two contract line items: CLIN 001 for one first article verification unit and CLIN 002 as an option to purchase up to thirty-nine production units upon first article approval. The first article unit must be delivered no later than ninety days after receipt of order and must contain all parts listed in Attachment 1 – Parts List. The FAA will conduct visual inspection within thirty days to accept or reject the first article. Once approved, the contractor becomes an approved source for production units, with delivery of all thirty-nine production units required no later than 180 days after notification of first article approval. The contractor must furnish all labor, facilities, equipment, and materials required for kit fabrication. Preservation, packaging, and packing must comply with Provision 61. The Contracting Officer's Representative is Brandon Brumley from the Radar Technical and Program Support Branch.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Procurement of ASR-8 Weather Path Kit
1. BACKGROUND
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified a requirement to procure conversion kits to support modifications to the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configuration at Airport Surveillance Radar Model 8 (ASR-8) facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) implementation under the Radar System Replacement (RSR) Program.
The rotary joints currently installed at ASR-8/ATCBI-5 sites do not provide the number of signal paths required to support integration with the RSR architecture. To achieve compatibility, the existing rotary joints must be converted to the configuration utilized at ASR-8 sites equipped with the Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S). This conversion requires the installation of a kit developed by AJW-1433, which adds an additional signal path to accommodate Weather Signal transmission through the rotary joint.
