Statement of Work Summary: ASR-8 Weather Path Kit Procurement
This is a Statement of Work for the Federal Aviation Administration's procurement of conversion kits to support modifications to Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) systems at Airport Surveillance Radar Model 8 (ASR-8) facilities. The kits are required as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) implementation under the Radar System Replacement (RSR) Program. The conversion kits will enable existing rotary joints at ASR-8/ATCBI-5 sites to accommodate an additional signal path for Weather Signal transmission, achieving compatibility with Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S) configurations. The kit design was developed by AJW-1433 and consists of specified parts listed in Attachment 1.
The contract includes two contract line items: CLIN 001 for one first article unit with delivery required no later than 90 days after receipt of order, and CLIN 002 as an option to purchase up to 39 production units following first article approval. The FAA will conduct visual inspection of the first article unit within 30 days to verify conformance to the parts list. Once the first article is approved, the contractor becomes an approved source for production units, with delivery of all 39 production units required no later than 180 days after first article approval notification. All preservation, packaging, and packing must comply with Provision 61. The Contracting Officer's Representative is Brandon Brumley of the Radar Technical and Program Support Branch.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Procurement of ASR-8 Weather Path Kit
1. BACKGROUND
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified a requirement to procure conversion kits to support modifications to the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configuration at Airport Surveillance Radar Model 8 (ASR-8) facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) implementation under the Radar System Replacement (RSR) Program.
The rotary joints currently installed at ASR-8/ATCBI-5 sites do not provide the number of signal paths required to support integration with the RSR architecture. To achieve compatibility, the existing rotary joints must be converted to the configuration utilized at ASR-8 sites equipped with the Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S). This conversion requires the installation of a kit developed by AJW-1433, which adds an additional signal path to accommodate Weather Signal transmission through the rotary joint.
