About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) and associated market survey/capability assessment for Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) Transmitter Control Module RF Klystron Interface Cables, issued by the FAA. The SOW requires the manufacture and delivery of RF cable assemblies to address electromagnetic interference issues at TDWR sites, including 224 units each of 66-inch and 75-inch SMA male-to-male cables, and 112 units of 125-inch SMA-to-BNC male cables. All cables must meet specific electrical characteristics including 0-18GHz frequency range, 1.25 max VSWR, 50 ohms impedance, and 90dB insertion loss.
The market survey seeks capability statements from potential vendors, due by March 14, 2025, 5:00pm CST. Responses must include services/items provided, previous contract experience, and years in business. The NAICS code is 334511 with a 1,350-employee size standard. While the competition type is undetermined, the FAA may conduct full and open competition or set aside for small businesses/8(a) firms. Delivery is required within 16 weeks ARO to the FAA MMAC facility in Oklahoma City, OK. The survey explicitly states this is not a solicitation and vendors will not be compensated for responses.

1. BACKGROUND / OVERVIEW
Terminal Doppler Weather (TDWR) Transmit Control Module (TCM) Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) has provided TDWR sites with new technology from engineering sustainment efforts. Current conditions at remote sites using the new TCM hardware indicate Electromagnetic Interferences (EMI) which prevent consistent operation. To minimize the unknown EMI effects on the system, specifically the TCM, RF decoupling efforts have been attempted with the TCM enclosure. This resulted in redesigning transmission line routing to prevent induced RF noise to the Klystron tube and prevent excessive crystal detector failures in the field. This SOW requires RF cables to be accepted within workmanship parameters identified within this document.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
The Contractor shall provide the items listed in section 3.0 in accordance with section 5.0 and 6.0.
The Klystron analog inputs will require system cable assembly modifications for the decoupling interface. 5 Coax assemblies per system transmitter, which correspond with Klystron RF analog signals, have been identified as impedance sensitive transmission paths to the TCM. Specific assembly requirements are listed in Table 1.

Table 1 TCM Klystron specifications Cable characteristic profile for all cables assemblies in Table 1 are required to meet or exceed parameters identified in Table 2. The characteristic profile report is required for each cable. In addition, the cables shall have heat-shrink to assembly labels and from assembly labels to identify the terminated end in the system.
NOTES:
1) BNC-M Connection will only require 0-3GHz operating frequency range due to connector limitation.
2) Cable characteristics identified in Table 2 must be exceeded for acceptance.
3) To Assembly Labels and From Assembly Labels will be placed 2” – 3” from the end of the cables.
