STATEMENT OF WORK

REPLACE GAS LINE, FACILITY 2090

REPLACE NATURAL GAS LINE FROM BUILDING 813 TO AGL DISTRICT REGULATOR

1.0 LOCATION AND SCOPE:

The existing steel natural gas line feeding B813 area is leaking and has been isolated. Repair the natural gas system by installing a new polyethylene gas line, valves and fittings from B813 to the

Atlanta Gas Light district regulator at Cobb Parkway. Also relocate regulator in B813 mechanical room to the exterior of the building. Contractor shall coordinate with Atlanta Gas Light to arrange connection to existing Atlanta Gas Light supply line. All work shall be in accordance with UFGS 33

11 23 (Natural Gas Piping) and UFGS 33 51 15 (Natural Gas Distribution).

2.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

A. Replace existing steel gas line with the same size polyethylene pipe. Pipe, tubing, fittings and joints shall be rated by ASTM for natural gas, rated SDR as specified in ASME B31.8. All joints in polyethylene pipe shall be by heat fusion.

B. All below ground valves shall be polyethylene and shall conform to ASME B16.40. A valve shall be installed at each branch, lateral or service line. Joints shall be by heat fusion.

C. Provide cast iron valve boxes (minimum 3/16" thick) at each underground valve with the word

"GAS" cast into the cover. Valve boxes shall be provided with locking covers that require a special wrench for removal. If valve box is in roadway, the box shall be traffic rated and shall be protected against movement by a suitable concrete slab at least 3 feet square. Valve boxes in grassy areas require a concrete surround at least 2 feet square. Valve boxes shall be the adjustable extension type such that the box is not resting on the pipe and is flush with the surrounding surface.

D. Anodeless risers shall be used at each transition from polyethylene pipe to a meter or regulator.

E. Install an insulated copper tracer wire in the trench above the new gas line. Bring the wire ends up to be accessible at each valve, regulator or meter. Wire shall be no smaller than #12 AWG and wire shall not be wrapped around the pipe. Also install a foil backed magnetic tape on top of the upper sand bedding. Tape shall be labeled for gas lines.

F. Mains shall have a minimum of 24 inch cover and service lines shall have a minimum of 18 inch cover above the top of the pipe. Pipes shall be bedded in bank sand and backfilled with compacted bank sand to 12 inches above the pipe.

G. For road crossings (driveways, etc.) the gas pipe shall be encased in a standard weight black steel pipe with a suitable protective coating for burial. The gas pipe shall be separated from the casing by insulating spacers and sealed at the ends with casing bushings.

H. All excavated or damaged areas shall be repaired to match the existing. This includes grassed areas, pavement, sidewalks and curbs.

I. All pavement shall be saw-cut for trenching. All questions regarding trenching and backfilling shall be referred to UFGS 31 00 00 (Earth Works).

J. Testing shall be in accordance with UFGS Section 33 51 15 and test pressure shall be at 150% of maximum operating pressure or 50 psig, whichever is greater.
