All areas to be refinished must be scuffed or sanded to ensure proper adhesion of the topcoat, with any peeling, failing, or degraded coatings fully removed, stripped, or sanded down to a sound substrate and primed as necessary, strictly adhering to topcoat manufacturer’s surface preparation instructions.
Apply a minimum of Two (2) topcoats (per paint manufacturer’s instructions) of a 2-part polyurethane topcoat such as Awlgrip HDT(or equivalent) in Matterhorn White –for the hull and Toreador Red for the boot stripe, visor and cabin trim. The coating shall be applied by spray or equivalent method to ensure a flawless, professional-grade finish, free of drips, runs, orange peel, or eggshelling. The final appearance shall conform to professional appearance and finishing standards, with all refinished areas presenting a consistent color, gloss, and smoothness, free of any visible surface defects. Any components not intended for repainting shall be masked to protect from overspray.
Task 10: Remove and replace 4 (four) brass deck fill fittings (2 diesel, 1 fresh water and 1 waste) with 316 Stainless steel fittings of same or slightly larger size. All fittings shall include labeling (i.e., diesel, waste, water) cast or stamped into the flange. Existing screw holes shall be epoxy filled. New deck fittings shall be installed with new grade 316 stainless screws or bolts and bedded/caulked to provide 100% watertight of seal the through deck opening and mounting holes. Any exposed deck core shall be sealed with layer of fiberglass reinforced epoxy. Old hoses and clamps are to be replaced with new hose suitable for the liquid type and grade 316 stainless steel clamps.
Task 11: Repair salon overhead deck cracks and repaint. Grind back current deck and expose glass to identify cracks in fiberglass and thru deck vent fittings. Grind back cracks to create a proper tie-in and add new layer of mat and resin to seal the cracks. New glass and resin shall be faired in to be virtually undetectable. All repairs shall be gel coated de-waxed and etched, prior to finishing with two coats of non-skid gel coat, retaining the same light gray color.
Task 12: Replace existing/missing UHMW rub rails and transom corners.
• Materials: Fabricate single piece, form fit, ¼” thick 316 stainless steel transom corner protectors (providing slightly more coverage than the UHMW originals). Supply new UHMW rub rails matching the original size and profile.
• Surface Prep: Fill old screw holes with epoxy. Etch and clean all bonding surfaces (rails, corners, hull) with acetone or alcohol. Carefully drill new pilot holes without penetrating the interior hull.
• Installation: Overlap the new rub rails onto the stainless corners, terminating flush with the transom. Attach using 316 stainless steel #14 countersunk flathead screws and a marine-grade adhesive (e.g., 3M 5200) applied to 100% of the bonded surfaces.
• Cleanup: Completely remove any adhesive bleed-out using a manufacturer-approved cleaning agent.
Task 13: Disassemble steering linkage in lazarette compartment and replace all bushings/bearings with high quality, corrosion resistant, greaseable/serviceable bushings/bearings that eliminate virtually all slop in the current steering system. Repaint steering components removed as necessary, reinstall and torque all connection hardware. Pivot points to be addressed include:
a) Steering ram to STBD rudder arm.
b) STBD rudder arm to connecting rod.
c) Port rudder arm to connecting rod.
