1.0 Scope
NSWCCD Code 6170 performs research and development (R&D), inspections, and critical testing on custom and commercial off the shelf non-metallic materials. One method for testing radio frequency (RF) signature performance is using a specular inspection and diagnostic ring system (SpIDR). Due to NAVSEA signature requirements, the typical RF range must be 2 - 40 GHz. Code 6170 requires a contract to purchase a Resonant Sciences It will be used to perform RF transmission, normal incidence Imaging Variant Specular Inspection and Diagnostic Ring (IV-SpIDR).
reflection, and bistatic reflections measurements from 2 - 40 GHz at various incident angles and polarizations. It will also be used to rapidly image and extract electrical and magnetic properties from various non-metallic materials. Code 6170 requires the IV-SpIDR to directly support SEA 05P programs and requirements.
