5.
I am a reporter in Alabama with 43 years experience. As you know, there is a nationwide shortage of court reporters and has been for a few years, and will continue to be in the near future. I will be honest, I turn down more work than I accept because there is so much work available and so few reporters to cover
it. I do not even have time to read a 26-page CI. You must make your process more simple in order to attract qualified applicants. I have a home in Tennessee and have previously been licensed in Tennessee, but I don’t think I would consider this opportunity because it is too time consuming to wade through your paperwork.
The Department understands that participating in a state solicitation can be time consuming. However, these processes are in place to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with state procurement laws.
To be considered for a contract, submit the following:
• Provide written response to Solicitation Attachment 1 Proposal & Evaluation Guide, Items A.1. – A.13.
• Provide a copy of all credentials required to provide court reporter services for all division and program areas of the Department of Commerce and Insurance.
