Walk-ins of greater than 1,000 feet shall be paid for at the bid price Per Thousand Feet and Per Planting/Shade/ADC Unit of Measure (i.e., Per Thousand Feet and Per Acre for tree planting or artificial shade/ADC treatment that is priced per acre; Per Thousand Feet and Per Thousand Trees for tree planting that is priced per thousand tree (MTR).

• Example 1: A 20-acre unit with a walk-in distance of 2,400 feet and a bid price of $28 per thousand feet and per acre would receive an additional $28 X 2.4 X 20 = $1,344 for Walk-in costs.

Item 7.1: Vehicle Washing This amount would be an add on cost per vehicle if additional cleaning (in Excess of PWS Section 9.5.1) is required.

Planting Difficult Matrix (Bitterroot NF and Flathead NF only) A weighted planting difficulty rating is calculated using pre-plant survey information and the planting difficulty matrix below. The final ratings are then grouped into difficulty categories, each with similar planting difficulty. Your offer will need to reflect the planting difficulty within the entire category, because all units within one category will not be identical. The planting difficulty levels are designed to include interplants as well as initial reforestation plantings.

Planting Difficulty Matrix – Examples

A weighted planting difficulty rating is calculated using pre-plant survey information and the planting difficulty matrix.

Example 1: Happy Harvest Unit # 1 The unit received recent seed tree harvest treatment with whole tree yarding. It has little-to-no slash/down woody debris present and light vegetation cover estimated at 25% or less. Rock/root coverage is estimated at 30% or less. The site is level/rolling with average slope < 5%. Plant Ponderosa Pine container 112 stock on 15'x15' spacing with an 18" scalp.

Category Multiplier Rank Rating Spacing 0.30 X 2 = 0.60 Scalp Size 0.15 X 3 = 0.45 Stock Type 0.10 X 1 = 0.10 Vegetation/Slash 0.20 X 1 = 0.20 Rock/Roots 0.15 X 1 = 0.15 Slope 0.10 X 1 = 0.10

Planting Difficulty Rating (Sum) = 1.60 = Difficulty Category A

The weighting is converted to a decimal (Spacing 30% to .30) and multiplied by the rank value (2) to total 0.60. When all values are input, a total overall rating is displayed which equals 1.60, or Planting Difficulty Level A.

Example 2: Happy Harvest Unit # 2 The unit consists of heavy vegetation consisting of grass, forbs, and shrubs estimated at > 65% cover. Rock/root coverage is estimated at less than 30%. Average slope is 20%. Plant Western Larch bareroot 2-0 stock and Ponderosa Pine container 112 stock on 10'x10' spacing with an 18" scalp.

Category Multiplier Rank Rating

Spacing 0.30 X 5 = 1.50

Scalp Size 0.15 X 3 = 0.45

Stock Type 0.10 X 3 = 0.30

Vegetation/Slash 0.20 X 5 = 1.00

Rock/Roots 0.15 X 1 = 0.15

Slope 0.10 X 1 = 0.10

Planting Difficulty Rating (Sum) = 3.50 = Difficulty Category C

The weighting is converted to a decimal (Spacing 30% to .30) and multiplied by the rank value (5) to total 1.50. When all values are input, a total overall rating is displayed which equals 3.50, or Planting Difficulty Level C.

Example 3: Happy Harvest Unit # 3 The unit was supposed to receive a broadcast burn for site preparation prior to planting, but the burn was not completed due to nearby values at risk. It has now been four years since the harvest, and the slash/down woody debris and vegetation coverage is extremely high, estimated at >75% cover. The unit is also very steep and rocky, with an average slope of 55-60% and rock/root coverage estimated at 65%. Plant Ponderosa Pine bareroot 2-0 stock on 14'x14' spacing with an 18" scalp.

Category Multiplier Rank Rating Spacing 0.30 X 3 = 0.90 Scalp Size 0.15 X 3 = 0.45 Stock Type 0.10 X 3 = 0.30 Vegetation/Slash 0.20 X 5 = 1.00 Rock/Roots 0.15 X 5 = 0.75 Slope 0.10 X 5 = 0.50

Planting Difficulty Rating (Sum) = 3.90 = Difficulty Category D

The weighting is converted to a decimal (Spacing 30% to .30) and multiplied by the rank value (3) to total 0.90. When all values are input, a total overall rating is displayed which equals 3.90, or Planting Difficulty Level D.
