STATEMENT OF WORK
A. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Vaccine Research Center (VRC) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), conducts intramural research supporting the development and evaluation of vaccines and immune-based interventions. Within the VRC, the B Cell Immunobiology Section (BCIS) characterizes cellular and antibody responses to vaccines to improve understanding of how B cells shape the immune response.
BCIS uses a Carterra LSA instrument to perform high-throughput surface plasmon resonance (SPR) analysis of antibody binding properties across large antibody datasets generated from human samples. The instrument supports high-throughput antibody screening for Project AI-005143-06 and is critical to ongoing research experiments. Continuous manufacturer service coverage is needed to maintain the instrument, reduce the risk of extended downtime, and avoid research delays or costly unplanned repairs.
B. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this acquisition is to obtain a 12-month manufacturer service agreement for the following equipment:
Carterra LSA XT, Serial Number 1022111104
The service agreement will provide maintenance and technical support needed to keep the Carterra LSA operational for high-throughput antibody screening and related ongoing research.
Timely service coverage is essential because loss of support could result in equipment downtime, costly repairs, reduced antibody-screening throughput, and delays to research progress.
