The required equipment includes a Fluorescence Microscope Driver (Gen 3) with integrated LASER and 470nm LED light source, various optical components (LISER bandpass filters, fiberoptic patchcords, rotary joints), an eFocus Optogenetically Synchronized Fluorescence Microscope Body Gen 3, twist-on imaging cannulae with fluid injector capability, a USB3.0 color behavior tracking camera system, a Gentec-EO Pronto-SI power meter, and a high-performance workstation configured with an AMD Ryzen 9 processor, 64GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 5060 Ti graphics card, and 8TB total storage. The system features eFocus electrowetting lenses permitting Z-space adjustments up to 300 microns, a 650x650 micron field of view, and includes free Doric Neuroscience Studio software. The quantity required is one complete set. Capable vendors must submit a capability statement not exceeding 20 pages (excluding cover page and executive summary) addressing experience with equivalent technical tasks, personnel qualifications, total employee count, applicable GSA Schedule contracts or government-wide acquisition contracts (GWACs), company name, Unique Entity ID from SAM.gov, physical address, and technical and administrative points of contact. Responses must be submitted electronically to Contract Specialist John Johnson at johnsonjr@mail.nih.gov. This notice does not commit the Government to issue a solicitation or award a contract, incur costs, or provide feedback to respondents.

No award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice. This notice is strictly for research and information purposes only. Small businesses are encouraged to respond.

BACKGROUND:

The Neuronal Circuits and Behavior Unit (NCBU) of the Cellular Neurobiology Research Branch (CNRB), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), uses a combination of state-of-the-art optogenetic, electrophysiology, two-photon fluorescence endomicroscopy, immunohistochemistry, and behavioral assays to elucidate the neuronal basis of survival behaviors, such as feeding, and determine how these behaviors are disrupted in eating disorders and drug addiction.
