About this file
This Single Source Justification document details a sole-source procurement for ChipCHECK Repairs by the 9th Contracting Squadron (9 CONS/PKB). The procurement is for repairing a 9MXS Chip Check Engine Analysis Unit that is currently inoperative due to faulty software, specifically for MCD wear analysis in the U-2S system. Gastops Inc. of Huntsville, Alabama is the sole authorized vendor, as they are the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and do not permit third-party repairs.
The document justifies the single-source award under FAR 13.106-1, noting that Gastops is the only manufacturer and distributor of ChipCHECK units, with exclusive rights to perform repairs. Technical orders strictly prohibit user servicing of the equipment. The estimated contract cost is $0.00, and this is described as a one-time repair with no follow-on acquisitions planned. The government will continue to perform market research to verify no other vendors can become authorized technicians for these units.

Section C: Justification for Soliciting from a Single Source or Brand Name
The proposed contract action is for the services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with single source, Gastops Inc., 4960 Corporate DR NW STE 140, Huntsville, Alabama, 35805-6209, CAGE Code 3Y4X8, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1. In the event that the unit requires service, then it shall only be serviced or repaired by Gastops authorized technicians.
