About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for pipette calibration and maintenance services. The FBI Laboratory Division requires ISO 17025 certified service for calibrating 97 multi-channel pipettes on site in two visits annually. The pipettes are all 8-channel models, and level 3 calibration services are sufficient. Minor repairs should be included in pricing, with major repairs handled separately. Four readings per channel are to be reported on calibration certificates matching previous certifications. The base period of performance is one year, with four optional one-year extensions.

Questions and Answers
Pipette Calibration and Services
Solicitation Number: SHOP-PR-24-000585
1. What is the level of service needed? There are different ISO levels, for example, levels
3, 4, and 5.
Answer: Level 3 service will be sufficient for this requirement.
2. Of the 97 multi-channel pipettes, how many are 8 channel and how many are 12 channel?
Answer: They are all 8 channel and no bottle top dispensers that we calibrate.
3. Would the FBI consider shipping the pipettes to the contractor’s facility for calibration?
Answer: No, calibration shall take place on-site.
4. Can these calibrations be performed all in one trip, once annually? It would be more cost-effective to complete in one trip vs two trips, but we can accommodate.
Answer: No, there is too much coordination involved and too many pipettes for a single trip, considering we are using some pipettes while calibrating others. We need to break it into two visits.
5. I would also like to know what type of calibration is required. Do you require “as left, as found” readings?
Answer: As long as we are getting ISO 17025 service, as left is adequate. As found is not required.
6. How many readings per pipette 2x5, 3x5 etc? If you have a previous certificate, we can match it.
Answer: We don't have specific requirements as far as number of readings. The latest calibrations certs show four readings per channel.

7. Do we need to include all repairs as part of the quote?
Answer: Minor repairs (O-rings and such) should be included in the quote.
Something major we can pay with a credit card separately or we might just dispose of the pipette (we have plenty of extras).
