About this file
This document is an Emergency Purchase Extension Approval issued by the State of Illinois Chief Procurement Office for General Services. It details a contract extension for Aggreko, a vendor providing temporary boiler rental services to the Illinois Department of Corrections (DOC) at the Shawnee Correctional Center (CC). The original emergency contract started on December 23, 2023 and was set to end on March 22, 2024, with a total value of $147,935.72. Due to delays in a capital project to replace the facility's boilers, the DOC is requesting a 6-month extension of the contract, from March 23, 2024 to September 22, 2024, at an estimated cost of $284,102.94. The extension is needed to ensure the continued availability of hot water and heating for the facility until the new boiler project is completed by the Capital Development Board (CDB).
The extension does not change the scope of work, which involves Aggreko providing three temporary boilers, updating wiring, and maintaining operations. A competitive procurement process was attempted but failed to yield any bids, necessitating this emergency extension. Without the extension, the facility would lose access to hot water for laundry and heating in the dietary area. The procurement officer has approved the extension, and the State Purchasing Officer and Chief Procurement Officer have also signed off on the request.
