About this file
This is a reference document published by the State of Georgia under authority of O.C.G.A. 50-36-2 that establishes a comprehensive list of secure and verifiable documents acceptable for identification purposes. The document does not pertain to a specific contract opportunity but rather serves as guidance for government agencies administering public benefits or programs. The list includes U.S. passports, military identification cards, state driver's licenses (with specific exclusions for Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, Utah, and Washington due to non-compliance with immigration verification requirements, with Maryland and Massachusetts pending review), tribal identification cards, U.S. Permanent Resident Cards, Employment Authorization Documents, foreign passports, U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Documents, international trusted traveler cards (FAST, NEXUS, SENTRI), Canadian driver's licenses, and USCIS Certificates of Citizenship or Naturalization.
The document clarifies that the listed documents are verifiable for identification purposes but are not necessarily indicative of residency or immigration status. Additionally, the guidance provides that any document required by federal law for proof of identity in connection with administration of a public benefit or program shall be deemed a secure and verifiable document for purposes of that specific program or benefit administration. This document functions as a compliance reference tool for Georgia state agencies rather than a contract solicitation.
