Potable Water Reservoir Cleaning Marin Headlands

Scope of Work

Description of Work

The work shall include inspection and cleaning of interior area and surfaces of the water tanks listed below. This shall be done while maintaining an active water system on selected tanks. Tank cleaning shall be performed by using NSF rated diving apparatuses and tanks will remain in service while cleaning is performed. The selected contractor shall perform all of the work and shall furnish all of the supplies, materials, equipment, supervision, labor and inspection necessary for completion. Contractor shall also provide written recommendations for further action related to the following reservoir tanks:

(1a) Tanks #1 and #2 –Each are 200K Gallons Located in Fort Baker Sausalito CA, (single structure, two tanks divided by common wall), Concrete total 400K Gallons combined.

(1b) Tank #3 and #4 – Each are 100K Gallons Located in Fort Barry Sausalito CA, (single structure, two tanks divided by common wall), Concrete total 200K Gallons combined.

(1c) Tanks #5-#6 2 –Each are 200K Gallons Located in Fort Cronkhite Sausalito CA, (single structure, two tanks divided by common wall), Concrete total 400K Gallons combined.

Inspection Exterior/Interior:

Adhering to American Water Works Association (AWWA) C652-11 (or most current) The inspection shall be completed by a trained and qualified inspector as stated in AWWA D101-53. The purpose of inspection is to determine if repairs are required and, if so, the exact nature and extent of the work required. The inspection should outline specific maintenance needed to restore the tank(s) in good condition and submitted to the COR.

Cleaning:

All sediment, sludge and debris shall be removed from the tank’s interior. Tank shall be disinfected per AWWA standards C652-02 (or most current) prior to placing back in service. Written permission is required from the

Utilities manager prior to returning to service. Contractor shall be responsible for all removal and disposal of all materials or sediment collected to an NPS-approved location outside of the park.

Upon completion, the work area shall be left clean of debris and trash associated with the work. There shall be no additional charges for removal and/or disposal of materials. It is the responsibility of the contractor to secure all work areas from unauthorized access. This may include, but is not limited to, installation of temporary work-site fencing, signage, and controlled access points. Contractor must provide a description of planned security measures.

Return Tanks To Service:

Any chemical contamination shall be eliminated by means of neutralization and/or flushing.

Tank shall be disinfected per AWWA standards C652-11 (or most current) prior to placing back in service. Written permission is required from the Utilities manager prior to returning to service.
