About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for door hardware specifications for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Casa Grande K-9 facility improvements project (PCS-22-145). The specification covers mechanical and electrified door hardware for swinging doors, sliding doors, and gates, including electronic access control system components. The hardware schedule details multiple hardware groups (numbered 100 through OH-01) with specific configurations for different door types: storeroom locks, classroom locks, and corridor locks. Key products specified include hinges (Ives 5BB1 series), cylindrical locks (Schlage ND Series Grade 1), mortise locks (Schlage L9000 series), exit devices (Von Duprin 99/33A series), door closers (LCN 4040XP series), and thresholds and gasketing (Zero International and NGP). The specification requires coordination of electrical rough-in for electrified hinges, door position switches, and card readers, with conduit to be coordinated by the general contractor.

The specification establishes rigorous quality assurance requirements including mandatory submittals of product data, hardware schedules, keying schedules, templates, and wiring diagrams. A keying conference with the Owner, Contractor, Architect, Installer, Owner's security consultant, and Architectural Hardware Consultant must be conducted to establish the Grand Master Keying system, with permanent cylinders keyed to match the Owner's existing factory-registered Primus key system. Hardware must comply with ANSI/BHMA standards, UL listings for fire-rated assemblies, and accessibility requirements. The specification mandates use of single-source manufacturers for each hardware type and includes special warranty periods: 30 years for mechanical closers, 3 years for mechanical exit devices, 10 years for cylindrical mechanical locks, 3 years for mortise mechanical locks, and 1 year for electrified components. An Architectural Hardware Consultant must be engaged to inspect and verify proper installation and adjustment, with occupancy adjustment required approximately six months after Substantial Completion.
