About this file
This document is the Scope of Work for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Forestry Division's post-herbicide treatment project for tree-planted acres in Spring 2023 and 2024. The project involves the herbicide treatment of approximately 54.5 acres across two sites - Burning Star (48 acres) and Ten Mile Creek (6.5 acres) - to suppress annual weed and grass competition without injuring the newly planted hardwood trees. The contractor must supply all necessary herbicide products, apply the treatments, and ensure at least 75% effectiveness by June 30th of each year. The contractor must have direct experience in post-herbicide application for tree seedling plantings and hold valid Illinois Department of Agriculture commercial pesticide applicator licenses. The project start date is no sooner than mid-April 2023 and 2024, with a completion date of no later than June 5th of each year.
The contractor will be required to sign a state contract and will be invoiced separately for each herbicide application area. There is no subcontracting allowed, and the contractor must have the ability to complete the herbicide application within three 12-hour days. The IDNR District Foresters, Ben Snyder and Jenny Lesko, will oversee the project and approve the herbicide choice, timing, and application completion.
