ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

SCOPE OF WORK & PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

Date: October 2, 2020 File# 4-21-007

LOCATION: Mason State Tree Nursery

PROJECT TITLE: Well #9 Inspection and Repair

PROJECT NARRATIVE:

The existing well at Mason State Tree Nursey (Well #9) has failed -- this well had been online for several years and is the primary source of water for the entire Mason State Tree Nursery campus. The Nursery is of critical importance to the Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry’s operations. Without a reliable water source, the Nursery will be unable to keep any of their plants alive resulting in the loss plant materials – a tremendous cost to the State. An inspection is required to determine why the well no longer functions and whether repairing the well is a viable option. The inspection will require a camera be inserted down the well to inspect existing conditions. If the inspection results show that the existing equipment cannot be repaired, the equipment will have to be replaced.

SCOPE OF WORK:

An inspection of the existing conditions of Mason State Tree Nursery’s Well #9, via dropped camera and video feed, is required to determine if repairs of the well are feasible. The inspection shall assess the structural integrity of Well #9, the existing ground subsidence adjacent to the well head, and the condition of discharge piping. The inspection shall also assess the condition of existing pumping equipment which will include a Megger (Meg) test of the existing motor to determine the condition of electrical insulation. Finally, the inspection will also determine how to chemically treat the well to regain/increase the specific capacity and performance of the well itself.

If the inspection results show that the existing equipment cannot be repaired:

1) Provide and install one (1) new 75 H.P. pump, 460 V, 3 phase submersible motor, rated at 750 gallons per minute. @ 240 total dynamic head submersible pump.

5) Evacuate & Inspect discharge piping.
