SBA Procedural Notice
TO:
All Employees and Contractors
CONTROL NO.: 9000-1406
SUBJECT:
Removal of Old Computer User Accounts
EFFECTIVE: 1-13-2003
Recent security audit findings have indicated potential weaknesses in SBA’s User Account management procedures. As a result of these findings, this Notice is being published. All employees and contractors that leave SBA or who no longer need access to SBA computer systems must be removed from the computer systems immediately.
The necessary actions for suspending or deleting old user accounts and reassigning or deleting the data sets associated with those old accounts must be implemented by the System Administrators responsible for the relevant systems. Supervisors of departing employees and the Contracting Officer’s Technical Representatives (COTRs) for departing contractors must notify System Administrators via e-mail that the departing person no longer requires an active account, within 5 business days of the departure. Supervisors and COTRs must also notify the IT Security Group via an e-mail to: IT Security.
If you require additional information, please contact Lewis Baskerville on (202) 401-1980 or Joyce Lewis on (202) 205-6318.
