About this file
This is a Performance Bond template document applicable to the City of Meriden, Connecticut's Board of Education Maintenance Facility Roof Replacement project located at 998 North Colony Road. The bond establishes a binding obligation between a contractor (Principal), a surety company, and the City of Meriden (Obligee) to ensure faithful performance of the roof repair and replacement contract. The bond amount, contract date, engineer/architect details, and specific project description are to be filled in on the template. The surety guarantees that the contractor will promptly and faithfully perform all work in accordance with the contract drawings and specifications. Should the contractor default, the surety waives notice of any alterations, defaults, or time extensions and agrees to either remedy the default or arrange for completion of the work by obtaining competitive bids from responsible contractors.
The bond remains in full force and effect until contract completion and final payment. Any legal action under the bond must be instituted within two years from the date final payment is due. The bond protects only the named Owner (City of Meriden) and its successors; no other person or corporation may bring action under it. The surety's liability is limited to the bond amount stated in the first paragraph, with the "balance of contract price" defined as the total amount payable to the contractor under the contract less amounts already paid. The template requires signatures and seals from both the Principal contractor and Surety, along with witness signatures and titles from authorized representatives of each party.
