· Maintain consistent image geometry and magnification appropriate for diagnostic interpretation.

· Provide sufficient spatial resolution, contrast resolution, and dynamic range to evaluate impacted teeth, jaw structures, gross caries, bone levels, and maxillofacial pathology.

· Minimize motion artifacts through short scan times and/or image stabilization features.

4.2 Patient Positioning and Usability.

The System Shall:

· Include laser alignment guides (e.g., midsagittal, Frankfort plan, canine line) to ensure accurate and repeatable patient positioning.

· Provide head stabilization components (chin rest, bite block, temple supports) suitable for adult and pediatric patients.

· Allow rapid setup and repositioning to support high-throughput clinical workflows.

· Accommodate patients with limited mobility to the maximum extent practicable.

4.3 Digital Output and Interoperability.

The System Shall:

· Utilize a digital detector enabling immediate image acquisition and review.

· Be DICOM-compliant and capable of exporting images for storage, transmission, and integration with enterprise medical imaging system.

· Interface with dental imaging software and support export in standard digital formats (with preference for AUDS authorized dental imaging software).

· Allow entry and association of patient demographic data with each study.

4.4 Radiation Safety and Dose Management.

The System Shall:

· Comply with all applicable FDA, NCRP, and DoD radiation safety standards including, but not limited to, AR 40-5 and DHA guidance.

· Provide adjustable exposure parameters (kVp, mA, exposure time) with pediatric dose-reduction capability.

· Include preprogrammed exposure protocols to reduce operator error.

· Display and/or record exposure information to support quality assurance and safety monitoring.

The Contractor Shall:

· Provide all labeling, physical placards, and other clinical notices or other physical components necessary to maintain compliance with applicable radiation safety guidance at both the Federal, DoD, and NY State levels.

4.5 Reliability, Installation, and Sustainment.

The System Shall:

· Be designed for frequent clinical use with high operational uptime.

· Operate on standard U.S. electrical power and tolerate typical clinical power variability.

· Have a compact footprint suitable for installation in fixed military dental clinics.

· Include all required mounting hardware, shielding interfaces, and safety interlocks.

· Be supported by a manufacturer-approved maintenance and service program, including calibration and technical support. As part of this requirement the contractor shall provide calibration and any regulatory mandated inspection services at no additional cost for the duration of the life of the system. This shall include all components or supporting accessories.

4.6 Quality Assurance and Calibration.

The System Shall:

· Support routine quality control and calibration procedures in accordance with manufacturer and DoD guidance.

· Provide consistent image quality across operators and time.

· Include documentation necessary to support medical device quality assurance and inspection requirements.
