About this file

The provided document is a Waste Disposal Policy for an institutional facility in Massachusetts. The policy outlines the procedures for the collection, storage, and disposal of solid, liquid, medical, and hazardous waste generated within the facility. Key details include:

The facility utilizes supervised inmate labor to remove solid waste from inmate living areas three times a day, which is then transported to a trash compactor area and disposed of by a contracted private vendor on a predetermined schedule. Liquid waste, primarily from meal preparation, is disposed of using a kitchen garbage disposal. Medical waste is stored in a locked room and removed by a contracted medical waste disposal company on a regular schedule. Hazardous waste is disposed of as needed by a private vendor under a contract agreement. Grease and fat accumulated from kitchen operations are stored in containers and removed by the contracted vendor.

There is a related state and local contract opportunity for an X-Ray System in the state of Massachusetts, but the document does not provide any details about that specific contract opportunity.

1. Liquid waste, primarily residue from meals, is sent back to the kitchen inside meal carts and disposed of by a garbage disposal as soon as possible.

2. The kitchen area, including dining rooms, handles liquid and solid waste in the same manner.

3. Administrative area waste is disposed of in the same manner but it is handled by the Building and Grounds staff.

C. Medical Waste

a) Medical waste is stored in an approved container in a locked storage room used for that purpose only.
