About this file

This document provides guidance for transporting passengers with suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 or other infectious diseases. The VA will communicate with contractors regarding any suspected or confirmed cases and require specific personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitization procedures for vehicles and equipment. Contractors must screen drivers daily and provide instruction on recognizing symptoms and proper precautions. Drivers must sanitize vehicles and equipment after each suspected or confirmed case transport, and passengers must wash or sanitize hands and wear facemasks.

The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for special mode transportation services for VA beneficiaries in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The single firm fixed price contract would be awarded for five years to provide wheelchair van and sedan transportation seven days a week within and outside of Milwaukee County, where approximately 70% of transports are expected to occur. The solicitation is designated as a 100% small business set-aside with an anticipated issuance date of June 8, 2020.
