About this file
This document is a Revised Infection Control Plan (ICP) for RFP 202 related to elevator rehabilitation work at the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Chicago, Illinois. The project involves modernizing seven elevators across multiple floors, identified as project 537-21-101.
The plan defines 22 distinct work zones distributed across six floors plus a seventh-floor staging area, with durations ranging from one week (sporadic) to 16 weeks of continuous work. Work zones 1.1, 1.1A, 1.2, and 1.3 are classified as Class III infection control areas requiring critical barriers, HEPA negative air machines with digital manometers, sticky mats, and ZipWall systems. These high-risk zones require continuous negative air pressure maintenance at .01 inches of water gauge, removal/isolation of HVAC systems, completion of all work with elevator doors shut when possible, and containment of construction waste in sealed containers. Work zones 1.4 and all higher-floor zones (2.1–6.3, 7.1, 7.3) are classified as Class II areas requiring less stringent controls, including active dust suppression methods, HVAC system isolation, door sealing, and HEPA-filtered vacuuming upon completion. The contractor (Elevated Technologies Inc.) is responsible for obtaining permits from the Contracting Officer Representative (COR), completing all critical barriers before construction begins, and ensuring thorough cleaning by VA Environmental Services before barrier removal. Product data sheets are included for Starc Systems LiteBarrier critical barrier walls, Global Industrial negative air machines, ZipWall containment systems, and fire-retardant poly sheeting. All work must comply with VA approval requirements and cannot proceed until the COR grants permission; non-compliant materials must be removed and replaced at the contractor's expense.
