PROJECT NO.: 636A6-26-102

1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK

1.1. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and incidentals necessary to remove and replace compromised steam condensate piping segments located in the basement of Building 2 at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System (VACIHCS), restoring reliable condensate return service across the affected areas in accordance with Section 6: General Requirements of the SOW.

1.2. The period of performance is one hundred twenty (120) calendar days from the Notice to Proceed (NTP). This duration includes material lead time, mobilization, phasing, and validation testing in accordance with related VA standards, directives, and specifications.

The on-site phased construction described in Section 5 shall be completed within sixteen

(16) continuous weeks unless modified by the Contracting Officer (CO) and Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).

2. PROBLEM STATEMENT

2.1. A leak is present in the steam condensate piping routed within trenching beneath linoleum flooring in the basement of Building 2 at VACIHCS (3600 30th St, Des Moines, IA 50310).

3. SCOPE

3.1. Provide construction services to demolish, remove, and replace compromised steam condensate piping segments, including trenching, backfilling, floor restoration, infection control measures, safety controls, validation testing, and commissioning as specified herein and in Section 6: General Requirements references of the SOW.

4. BACKGROUND

4.1. The compromised condensate piping totals approximately two hundred sixty (260) linear feet and traverses the following services within the basement: Sterile Processing Service (SPS), Nutrition and Food Service (NFS), Environmental Management Service (EVS), and Logistics. The piping is installed within trenching beneath linoleum flooring.

4.2. To minimize operational impact, replacement shall be executed in phases as detailed in Section 5. Approximate phase lengths:

• Phase 1: ~50 linear feet

• Phase 2: ~74 linear feet

• Phase 3: ~82 linear feet

• Phase 4: ~48 linear feet

4.3. Phased/active construction is limited to sixteen (16) weeks total: Phase 1 (4 weeks), Phase 2 (three weeks), Phase 3 (three weeks), and Phase 4 (six weeks).

4.4. Activities shall comply with Section 6: General Requirements references of the SOW.

5. PHASING SCHEDULE AND CONTRACT DELIVERABLES
