About this file
This is a specifications document for a construction project to replace electrical switchgear at Building 415 of the Tomah VA Medical Center in Wisconsin. The document outlines the technical requirements, divisions of work, and general conditions for the project.
The project involves demolition of existing electrical infrastructure and installation of new switchgear, transformers, generators, and associated electrical systems. Key components include installing temporary generators and panels, removing existing switchgear/transfer switches, installing new fuel tanks, and constructing building additions for the new equipment. The work must be completed in three defined phases while maintaining continuous power to the medical facility. The contractor must provide photographic documentation throughout construction, use a cloud-based document storage system, and submit detailed project schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM). The contractor is required to coordinate closely with VA staff, maintain security protocols, and ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations. The specifications cover 33 technical divisions including electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural and site work components.
