About this file
This document package includes federal conservation practice job sheets and implementation requirements for establishing woody plants and seed mixes on agricultural land, as well as a related federal contract opportunity notice.
The job sheets provide specifications for seeding three separate fields on Randy Leisure's property with different conservation plant mixes using dormant seeding methods. One field is to be seeded with Wetland Sedge Mix, one with North Wet Grass Mix A, and one with South Wet Grass Mix B. The seeding rates, species, and total pounds of seed required are detailed for each mix. Additional job sheets outline tree and shrub planting specifications for two separate areas, including plant materials, quantities, spacing, protection methods and maintenance requirements.
The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 12FPC323Q0071 from the Department of Agriculture for the Leisure Property Wetland Restoration project in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. No further details are provided on the required products or services, response date, or value of the award.

□ Sequester and store carbon.
□ Restore or maintain native plant communities.
□ Develop renewable energy systems.
□ Conserve energy.
□ Provide for beneficial organisms and pollinators.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE (Check all that apply)
□ Maintain the health of the plant community by controlling competing vegetation, as needed, until the desired trees and shrubs area established. Do not conduct maintenance practices and activities during the primary reproductive period of wildlife.
□ Control access by vehicles and/or equipment during or after tree/shrub establishment to protect new plants and minimize erosion, compaction and other site impacts.
□ Inspect the site (frequency) following planting, seeding, and/or natural regeneration for (duration) to determine whether the survival rate for tree and shrubs meets practice and client objectives. Replant or provide supplemental planting when survival is not adequate. Maintain at least 70% (inclusive of natural regeneration) of the original plant stocking for the entire practice lifespan.
□ Inspect the trees and shrubs (frequency), and protect them from adverse impacts of insects, diseases, competing vegetation, fire, livestock, wildlife, and non-functioning tree shelters and/or weed barriers.
□ Inspect and maintain installed plant protection structures (regeneration area protection fencing and tree shelters).
□ Control plant species on the Federal or State invasive species and noxious weed lists using mechanical or chemical methods.
