About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) outlines the requirements for replacing an end-of-life water-cooled HVAC unit at Proton West 7 (PW7) at the Fermilab facility in Batavia, Illinois, operated by the Fermi Forward Discovery Group (FFDG). The project requires the subcontractor to remove the existing York E#1922 water-cooled cooling-only unit and install a new 20-ton water-cooled system.
The detailed scope includes LOTO procedures, isolation of 2" water lines, electrical work (460VAC-3 phased), installation of a new Penn refrigeration regulator valve, supply and installation of copper piping, insulation, and ductwork. The contractor must install an FFDG-supplied thermostat with new 8-wire thermostat wiring, perform equipment startup, and provide documentation including manuals and nameplate photos. FFDG will provide a Task Manager/Construction Coordinator (TM/CC) and in-house overhead crane technician support for specific tasks. The contractor is responsible for all installation, labor, supervision, equipment, measurements, programming, and testing before project turnover.

Statement of Work
INTRODUCTION
This statement of work (SOW) aims to obtain supervision, expertise, labor, materials, and equipment for the work indicated below.
The work will be completed at Proton West 7 (PW7) at the Fermilab facility in Batavia, Illinois. Fermilab is operated by the Fermi Forward Discovery Group (FFDG).
FFDG will provide a Task Manager / Construction Coordinator (TM/CC) to oversee the project.
The subcontractor will replace the existing water-cooled HVAC unit at PW7. The subcontractor will purchase and provide the replacement unit. This is an end-of-life replacement of the HVAC system.
The subcontractor will be responsible for all installation, labor, supervision, equipment, measurements, programming, and testing needed to complete this project before turning it over to FFDG.
SCOPE OF WORK
Subcontractor shall perform the following:
1. Mobilize to PW7 FIMS 626
2. The contractor will remove the existing York E#1922 water-cooled cooling-only unit.
a. LOTO (lock out tag out) electrical panel PHP-WB-2-1 Circ.7-9-11.
b. Isolate 2” water lines.
c. Remove existing electrical wiring. Ensure line voltage and control wiring are removed and disposed of as required.
d. Disconnect both supply and return water lines.
e. Disconnect condensate line.
f. Once the unit is completely disconnected, TM/CC will work with an in-house overhead crane technician to assist with the removal.
3. The contractor will provide and install a new 20-ton water-cooled system as indicated below.
a. TM/CC will install a new unit with an in-house overhead crane technician.
b. The contractor will provide vibration pads for the new unit to sit on.
c. The contractor will provide a new 2” Penn refrigeration regulator valve.
i. The contractor will install a 2” Penn valve with a 1/4-inch refrigeration line from the high side of the regulator valve.
ii. The contractor will install a refrigeration tee for service and pressure testing.
d. The contractor is to supply all 2” copper and materials necessary to connect the supply and return water lines properly.
e. The contractor will supply and install new insulation on water lines after the leak is checked.
f. The contractor will install a new electrical 460VAC-3 phased, fused disconnect.
i. The contractor must supply appropriately sized fuses to match unit MOCP.
ii. The contractor must supply an appropriately sized wire and conduit for the new unit.
iii. The contractor will make the final connections and check the phasing.
4. The contractor is to install an FFDG-supplied thermostat.
a. The contractor will install a new 8-wire thermostat wire from the unit to the thermostat.
b. The contractor is to land low-voltage wiring.
5. The contractor must supply proper duct supplies (e.g., a Pair of pants) for adequate amperage and airflow.
a. The TM/CC will provide an in-house overhead crane technician to lift ductwork for final installation.
6. The contractor is to start up the equipment.
a. Provide an amp draw on motors to ensure proper ducting.
b. Adjust the Pen valve to the proper height to ensure an appropriate flow and pressure.
c. The contractor is to fill out manufacturer start-up paperwork.
7. Demobilize, final clean up, and check.
a. The contractor must provide TM/CC with all manuals and a picture of the manufacturer's nameplate.
