Amendment No. 1 is hereby issued in response to questions received regarding the subject Request for Proposal (RFP) No. RFX-2023-10210. Please note that some questions may have been edited to address duplicate questions or to protect business-sensitive information provided in the original questions. The essences of the original questions are not affected. Questions are in no particular order.

1. Is NREL open to extending the proposal submission due date?

NREL Response: The proposal submission due date has been extended by four (4) weeks.

The revised due date deadline with August 25th, 2023.

2. The requested delivery of the WTG is unclear. Can you please confirm NREL’s requested date of delivery?

NREL Response: There is currently no set delivery time. In general, sooner is better. Please provide a deliverable due date your company estimates to be possible in your proposal.

3. Attachment 2 is referenced in the RFP but doesn’t appear to have been provided or described elsewhere in the RFP – what are you referencing?

NREL Response: The reference to this on page 8 of the RFP document is an error. It should read “Attachment 1”.

mailto:Kyndall.Jackson@nrel.gov

4. Is this something that is tailored to GE-specific control systems and technologies? Or is it open to other manufacturers?

NREL Response: The solicitation is open to any turbine manufacturer that can meet NREL’s R&D needs. NREL has an existing GE wind plant controller that is used for grid integration research. The new turbine will either have to work with that plant controller or come with equipment that can take over that function.

5. Can you advise on how detailed this proposal/application should be?

NREL Response: NREL expects sufficient information to allow scoring against the criteria listed in the solicitation. For some of these criteria the answer can be very succinct.

As a reminder, each proposal must be submitted as an electronic PDF file by 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time on 08/25/23. Please send submissions to Kyndall.Jackson@nrel.gov.

Please include confirmation of receipt and acceptance of this Amendment in your cover letter.

Thank you for your interest in this project. We look forward to receiving your proposal!
