About this file
This document is Amendment No. 5 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the National Laboratory of the Rockies for a Level 3 Environmental Chamber (RFQ Number 2025025452). The amendment was issued on 4/8/2026 in response to questions received regarding the solicitation. The revised proposal submission deadline is 4/15/2026 at 5:00 PM Mountain Time. The solicitation uses a Lowest Price (Cost), Technically Acceptable selection methodology.
The amendment addresses a single question and answer regarding facility specifications and door clearances. The question inquired whether a service door can swing over a floor drain and requested clarification on the actual distance between the ATLAS system and a cross-hatched area shown in facility drawings. The answer confirms that the service door may swing over the floor drain; however, the area beyond the drain serves as a required 36-inch-wide egress path that cannot be blocked by open doors per RFQ requirements. The drain itself measures approximately 6 inches wide. All updated proposals must be submitted electronically to Maurice Nelson, the NLR RFQ Contact, at Maurice.Nelson@nlr.gov. Proposing companies are required to include confirmation of receipt and acceptance of the amendments in their cover letters.

Answer(s):
Yes, the service door can swing over the floor drain, but the area beyond the floor drain is an egress path that must be 36” wide. See below for clearances to the front of the drain, relative to existing equipment. The drain itself is about 6” wide.
The actual distance between the ATLAS system and the cross hatched area is 36” and as drawn is an example egress pathway that cannot be blocked by open doors per the requirements provided in the request for proposals.
As a reminder, updated proposals must be submitted electronically to Maurice.Nelson@nlr.gov by the deadline date of 4/15/2026.
If your company submits a proposal, please include confirmation of receipt and acceptance of the Amendments in your cover letter. Thank you for your interest in this project. NLR look forward to receiving a proposal.
