About this file

This is Amendment No. 5 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the National Laboratory of the Rockies for a Level 2 Environmental Chamber. The amendment provides clarifications in response to questions received regarding the solicitation and extends the proposal due date to April 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. The RFQ uses a Lowest Price (Cost), Technically Acceptable selection methodology.

The amendment addresses a specific question regarding spatial layout and clearances within the installation area. It clarifies that a service door may swing over a floor drain, provided that the egress pathway beyond the drain remains 36 inches wide and cannot be blocked by open doors per the original RFP requirements. The actual distance between the ATLAS system and the cross-hatched egress area is 36 inches, with the floor drain itself measuring approximately 6 inches wide. The document includes updated facility layout diagrams showing clearances, overhead heights, and equipment positioning. Proposing companies must submit updated proposals electronically to Maurice Nelson at Maurice.Nelson@nlr.gov and are required to include confirmation of receipt and acceptance of the amendments in their cover letters.

Answer(s):

Yes, the service door can swing over the floor drain, but the area beyond the floor drain is an egress path that must be 36” wide. See below for clearances to the front of the drain, relative to existing equipment. The drain itself is about 6” wide.

The actual distance between the ATLAS system and the cross hatched area is 36” and as drawn is an example egress pathway that cannot be blocked by open doors per the requirements provided in the request for proposals.

As a reminder, updated proposals must be submitted electronically to Maurice.Nelson@nlr.gov by the deadline date of 4/15/2026.

If your company submits a proposal, please include confirmation of receipt and acceptance of the Amendments in your cover letter. Thank you for your interest in this project. NLR look forward to receiving a proposal.
