The project involves constructing a boardwalk on 38 previously installed helical piles and regrading 150-200 feet of existing trail, with the goal of restoring public access to the Wasson Creek Valley as part of the Wasson Ridgetop to Estuary Restoration Project. The RFQ specifies unique requirements for the sensitive wetland construction site, including no heavy equipment in the wetland, strict containment of debris, compliance with an Inadvertent Discovery Plan, and limitation of removal/fill to less than 50 cubic yards. Contractors will be evaluated on a 100-point scale, with 40 points allocated to cost, 25 points for demonstrating experience with similar projects in sensitive waterways, 20 points for project scheduling, and 15 points for references. All permanently installed materials must be made in the US, and contractors must hold a valid Oregon Contractor's License. Prevailing wage rates apply for contracts valued over $50,000, and contractors must submit a separate price proposal along with project references, a draft schedule, and a list of subcontractors.

As part of the Wasson Ridgetop to Estuary Restoration Project, the public access to the Wasson Valley was altered. This boardwalk project will restore public trail access to the Wasson Creek Valley. The project coupled with new trail development currently in construction will increase accessibility in the South Slough trail system. HGE architects was contracted in 2023 to design the boardwalk. In 2024, 38 helical piles were installed in the wetland in preparation for the boardwalk construction.
