The City is soliciting quotes from qualified Florida-licensed General, Residential, or Building Contractors to demolish and remove the structure and its improvements, remove junk and overgrowth, and prepare the lot through grading and sodding. The scope of work includes terminating water and sewer connections, properly disposing of fuel tanks and septic tanks in accordance with Florida Administrative Code, and capping water wells. All trees except dead ones must remain, and public sidewalks and driveway aprons must remain intact. No items may be buried on-site. Quotes are due by September 18, 2026, and work must be completed within 60 days of the City-issued Notice to Proceed. Site visits are highly encouraged prior to bid submission. Bidders must be registered with the City of Ocala vendor portal to access solicitation documents and submit bids.
Bids must be submitted on a lump sum basis and shall include all labor, equipment, travel costs, permitting fees, and disposal costs, with a $104 permit allowance included. Award will be made to the lowest responsive bidder meeting all stated requirements. Qualified contractors must possess three years of experience in demolition and rehabilitation services and perform a minimum of 30% of work with their own forces. An asbestos survey conducted December 19, 2025 found no regulated asbestos-containing materials above the 1% detection threshold, though concealed materials may exist. An on-site trained representative must be present if asbestos-containing materials are present or discovered. Required insurance includes Commercial General Liability of $1 million per occurrence/$2 million aggregate, Commercial Automotive Liability of $1 million combined limit, and Workers' Compensation and Employer's Liability per Florida statutory requirements. Late completion incurs liquidated damages of $100 per calendar day. Invoices must include weight tickets from a certified landfill and will be paid within 30 days after final passing inspection.
