About this file
The document is an Asbestos Survey Report prepared by DK Environmental & Construction Services, Inc. for a property located at 1656 SW 3rd Street in Ocala, Florida, conducted on July 2, 2024, for the City of Ocala Code Enforcement. The survey was performed to identify the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) that may be disturbed during planned demolition. The property is a single-family detached dwelling constructed in 1957, approximately 872 square feet in size. Eleven samples were collected and analyzed by Hayes Microbial Consulting, an AIHA-accredited laboratory, using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) according to EPA Method 600/R-93/116.
The analytical results revealed the presence of asbestos in three samples: Sample 1656-2-1 (9"x9" Floor Tile/Brown) contained 4% Chrysotile asbestos in the interior bedroom, Sample 1656-5-1 (Cove Base/Black) contained 6% Chrysotile asbestos in the interior living room/bedroom, and Sample 1656-5-1 (Mastic/Black) contained 4% Chrysotile asbestos in the same area. The report emphasizes that any renovation or demolition activities must follow NESHAP regulations, including hiring a Florida-licensed asbestos abatement contractor for removal of regulated asbestos-containing materials (RACM). The survey notes that Category I non-friable ACMs do not require removal prior to demolition if wet-demolition practices are followed and debris is properly transported to a permitted landfill.
