About this file
This is a Scope of Work document from the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) for snow removal services in fiscal year 2026. The DOT is seeking competitive bids for snow removal services at fifteen (15) locations in District 1, requiring a contractor to provide all materials, labor, and equipment to achieve near-normal surface conditions after each winter weather precipitation event. The contract allows one snow removal trip per 24-hour period, with additional trips requiring written approval from the District Property Manager. Bidders can quote prices for snow levels of 1-8 inches and over 9 inches, and must submit separate line bids for sand and/or salt applications at each location.
The DOT reserves the right to add or remove properties from the contract at any time due to property acquisitions or disposals, and will notify the successful bidder of such changes. Snow removal services must comply with local City Snow Ordinance guidelines and ensure sidewalks and handicap ramps are sufficiently cleared to allow safe passage. The award will be made for the entire group of locations, with vendors required to bid on each property listed in the line items tab. The definition of "reasonably near normal surface" is explicitly defined as a sidewalk surface free of snow, ice, frost, or slush that permits safe passage.

Scope of Work for Snow Removal Services
Overview
The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is looking for qualified vendors to provide snow removal services for fiscal year 2026. We currently own and maintain right of way properties in the specified District. Snow removal services will be needed for sidewalks and handicap ramps at the properties listed. The DOT is seeking competitive bids for snow removal services at fifteen (15) locations in District 1 of the DOT jurisdiction. Awarded contractor is required to provide all materials, labor, and equipment necessary to achieve reasonably near normal surface conditions at the end of each winter weather precipitation event as defined in the scope of work. One trip per 24-hour period would be allowed. For additional trips, approval in writing from the District Property Manager would be needed.

Award will be made for entire group of locations. Please enter a bid for each property listed on the line items tab. The vendor has the option to quote prices for snow level amounts of one to eight inches (1“- 8”) and snow amounts over nine inches (9” +). The DOT requests that the vendor enters a separate line bid for sand and or salt applications at each location.
