About this file

This document is Addendum Number 1 for the Ames Laboratory RFP SC-25-672 Magnet Testbed - Phase 2 project. The addendum, issued on 6/27/2025, modifies the original Request for Proposal dated 6/9/2025 and includes updates to project specifications, drawings, and acceptable products. Key modifications include revisions to compressed gas piping testing procedures, changes to electrical and lighting fixture schedules, and updates to the room finish schedule. The proposal due date remains 7/9/2023 at 4:00 p.m. CDT.

The addendum addresses multiple technical aspects of the project, including crane rail adjustments, fire protection plans, and room-specific details for areas such as the Magnet Testbed (Room 160A), Gas Canister Storage (Rooms 285-286), and Control Room (Room 287). It also provides clarifications on several questions raised, such as slab adequacy, equipment installation, and coordination with Arcast for utility needs. Attachments include existing fire protection as-built documents and architectural and fire protection plan drawings.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. Is the slab in Room 160A adequate to support the Atomizer platform and equipment? Is there a need for footings?

1.1. Yes, the existing 6” slab in Room 160 A is adequate to support the Atomizer platform and equipment without the need for footings. Please note drawings 5A/2G-001 showing the anchoring detail for the platform into the existing slab. – MG, BBS

2. Is the slab in the Gas Canister Storage room adequate to support the equipment? Is there a need for structural modifications/support?

2.1. TBD – MG, BBS

3. Please confirm the MEP drawings and specifications have been coordinated with Arcast for their equipment utility needs.

3.1. Yes. – EK, BBS

4. Please provide the proposed installation duration from Arcast for the Atomizer platform and equipment.

4.1. This is unknown at this time and will be dependent on coordination with the GC and owner for installation and startup of the Atomizer equipment and supporting infrastructure. -MA, Ames Lab.

5. It was mentioned during the site visit that the existing fire protection drawings would be provided. Please provide. ?

5.1. See Appendix A. – EK, BBS

6. Please verify what PSI the piping downstream of the AR compressor needs to be tested at. ?

6.1. Refer to 22 15 13 Article 3.5. – EK, BBS

7. Has Arcast's schedule been taken into account when generating the project milestone schedule in specification section 00 30 00?

7.1. Yes, the Arcast schedule has been coordinate to align with the proposed project milestone schedule. -MA, Ames Lab

8. During the site visit it was noticed that Room 287 has a sink that the drawing doesn't address.

Please advise if it is to remain in place or if it is to be removed?

8.1. If add alternate 1 is not accepted the sink remains, if add alternate 1 is accepted the sink is removed. -MA, Ames Lab
