About this file
This is a Questions and Answers addendum to RFP A26-0974 issued by Ames National Laboratory. The addendum addresses four inquiries regarding equipment specifications and delivery requirements for a reactor system.
The reactor must be constructed of stainless steel tubing with capacity to hold 100 to 1000 mg of catalysts and a total volume of 0.1 to 1.0 cm³. The tubular reactor vessels require an estimated heated length of approximately 400 mm with an inside diameter of 3-5 mm. A heated enclosure or oven listed in Appendix B specifications is not a required deliverable. Regarding delivery and payment terms, equipment must be physically received by September 17, 2026, for favorable non-cost factor evaluation; invoicing prior to receipt without actual delivery will not benefit Ames Laboratory.

Addendum 1 for RFP A26-0974
1.
Q: Can you clarify the size (or volume) of the reactor the user is looking for?
A: The reactor needs to be stainless steel tubing that can hold 100 to 1000 mg of catalysts with a volume of 0.1 to 1.0 cm3.
2.
Q: Is it technically acceptable to invoice the equipment before 17 September 2026 with delivery of equipment at a later date, for example by the end of October 2026?
A: The non-cost factor will be evaluated by if the equipment can be received before September 17th 2026. Billing before that date but not having received the equipment will not be beneficial to Ames Laboratory.
3.
Q: In the Appendix B - Specification, Item 3 lists a “Heated enclosure or oven to maintain transfer lines, selector valve, and pressure control components above condensation temperature” as one of the required pieces of equipment. Will this piece of equipment be provided by the lab or is it a required deliverable for this item?
A: The heated enclosure or oven is not required.
4.
Q: What is the requested heated length and inside diameter for each of the tubular reactor vessels?
A: Estimated heated length is ~400mm, and the ID is about 3-5mm.
