ADDENDUM INDEX
GENERAL ITEMS APPLICABLE TO THE SPECIFICATIONS Item 1
GENERAL ITEMS
1. Answers to Questions, Clarifications, Suggested Changes provided by Ames Lab to potential vendors per page 1 of the RFP Document.
Q1. Active volume of magnetizing fixture = 4" diameter/6" length please indicate the magnetism field direction?
A1. The field is parallel to the length direction (6”). Field can only be generated parallel to the axial of the solenoid coil.
Q2. how many pieces of magnets that you want to magnetize every day?
A2. Should be less than 5 pieces.
Q3. For the Glove Box- Is there a specific model of glove box that you are looking to use? Or do you have specific dimensions for the chamber that will house the Magnetizing Fixture?
A3. Not a specific model. A glove box is not required. We just need the ability to put coil/yoke in a glove box.
Q4. For the parts that will be magnetized- are there any dimensions that you can share so that we could use to roughly design the part locator?
A4. The part dimension could range from 1 x 1 x 1" to 2 x 2 x 0.5"
Ames Laboratory RFP A22-1089 ADDENDUM NUMBER 1
Q5. Appendix A-2 4(a), if the system is a complete/turnkey system does the technician providing the “machine turn-on and training” at your site need to have a certification of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E training from an authorized certification agency? Does this include work performed at the supplier? Please clarify the requirements.
A5. Ames Lab Facilities will hook up all electrical. We just need the pre-installation requirements for the electrical as well as any other pre-installation requirements.
Q6. Minimum magnetizing fixture active volume of 4 inches diameter and 6 inches length. Can fixture have larger active volume in order to get a minimum of 6T over 4" Diameter and 6" length?
A6. The Solenoid can have a larger volume. We would prefer not to have greater than 10" length.
Q7. Magnetizing part holder dimensions to be defined by customers parts?
A7. The parts will typically be green bodies in molds with dimension up to 4" x 4" x 4".
Q8. Data acquisition, storage and transfer. Needs to be defined by customer what information are they looking to store.
A8. Any data output should just be specified by vendor. Ideally, we would like ability to record power, time, etc. for system, but we do not have specific requirements here.
Q9. Describe power drain capability. needs clarification.
A9. The power drain capability would be both the: discharge current magnitude and time profile and the self-discharge over time.
