About this file

This document is an Amendment to Solicitation for a Linear Power RF Amplifier issued by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The amendment changes the proposal due date to 10/21/2025 at 4PM CT and provides detailed responses to 18 vendor questions. Key technical specifications include a CW amplifier for an SRF cavity with 50 Ohm inputs/outputs, gain flatness of +/-3.5dB, -20dBc harmonics at 100W, and optional front panel and remote gain control via GPIB/Ethernet interfaces. The preferred brand is OPHIR, but equivalent products meeting specifications will be considered.

Commercial terms include no partial shipments, standard manufactured warranty, payment terms of NET 15 or NET 30 upon delivery, and acceptance of both U.S. and Mexican manufactured products. There are no export control restrictions, and the preferred shipping Incoterm is DAP with customs clearance managed by a third-party service provider. Vendors are instructed to complete PUR-466 and SARC forms, and to refer to the original RFP for additional details on quantities and lead times.

Amendment No 1

RFP-374109-GMG

10/15/2025

QUESTIONS:

1. Is the needed amplifier pulse or CW?

Response: CW

2. Expected type of load (description of load, meaning where will the RF go into) and VSWR max.

Response: Load – SRF cavity, unmatched, up to full reflection, should have internal protection

3. Amplitude linearity requirements.

Response: Gain flatness +/-3.5dB

4. Harmonics requirements.

Response: -20dBc min at 100W

5. Is 50 Ohm in & out OK?

Response: 50Ohm in out are required

6. More details regarding IEEE-488 GPIB, RS-232, and Ethernet Interface, which are mentioned in the brief description, but we need to know more. What is expected from those connections?

Response: Front panel gain control is desirable, GPIB/Ethernet remote gain control is optional

7. Whether an end product manufactured in Mexico is acceptable as the Country of Origin (TAA/DOE policy), or if U.S.-manufactured only is required.

Response: You can provide options for both. Provided it is equivalent and meets the specifications.

8. If this purchase is brand-name only or brand-name-or-equal; if “or-equal,” please confirm the salient characteristics for evaluation (500–1500 MHz, ≥200 W linear, rear Type-N connectors, front display/controller with fwd/rev power, gain adjust, ALC on/off, faults, standby; remote GPIB/RS-232/Ethernet).

Response: The preferred brand is ‘OPHIR’; however, equivalent products that meet the required specifications will be considered.

9. Whether any export-control restrictions apply (ITAR/EAR/CUI).

Response: No

10. Preferred shipping/Incoterms (e.g., FOB Destination) and the inspection/acceptance location?

Response: Our preferred Incoterm is DAP. We work with a third-party service provider who manages customs clearance on our behalf. The relevant contact and clearance details will be shared upon contract award.

2 10/15/2025

11. Partial shipments are permitted.

Response: No

12. Any required warranty/calibration documentation.

Response: Provide standard manufactured warranty.

13. COO/TAA: Is a Mexico-manufactured end product acceptable under TAA, or is U.S.-manufactured required?

Response: See response to #7

14. Brand status: Is this brand-name only or brand-name-or-equal? If “or-equal,” please share the datasheet/spec and any interface/performance requirements.

Response: See Response to #8

15. Quantity & schedule: Target quantity and required delivery/lead time.

Response: Refer to the RFP for quantities and provide your lead time as requested in the RFP.

16. Commercials: We support electronic invoicing and can accommodate Net-45/60; milestone payments are fine if helpful.

Response: Fermilab pays NET 15 or NET 30 upon delivery of goods

17. Documents: If there are additional drawings/specs posted, a direct link or file names would be appreciated.

Response: not applicable, please reference the RFP for the details.

18. Please advise if we should complete PUR-466 and SARC at this stage.

Response: Yes
