About this file
This document appears to be a technical data package that provides details about the software and hardware components supporting the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) Nuclear Data Evaluation Services IV (NDES IV) contract opportunity.
The key details include the software and hardware requirements for the 24th Analysis Squadron's (24 ANS) NDES IV application and database systems, the DASSLE data acquisition system, the Trackman, LIMS, Workflow, and Tracker software tools, and the 21st Surveillance Squadron's (21 SURS) EXDIS data ingestion system. The document outlines the underlying technologies, development status, and key capabilities of these various systems that support the NDES IV contract. It also describes the challenges 21 SURS faces in receiving data from multiple sources and the purpose of the EXDIS system to help streamline that process. This technical data package appears to be supplementary to the solicitation documents for the NDES IV contract opportunity, Solicitation Number FA702224R0004.

24th ANS Data Acquisition System Services Lab Extract (DASSLE)
DASSLE is a hardware and software system that allows 24 ANS/ANN’s contracted analysis labs to upload sample information from their labs to the Government servers. Analysis data generated at the labs is loaded onto a secure webpage.
Business rules validate data format and content files that fail business rules are rejected with a failure message. An error message tells mission partners what to fix and to re-upload/rescind. Files are converted to XML where it is submitted to an application server. The data is then ingested to an Oracle database. Data files (XML) are transmitted via NiFi and AFTAC specialized software to the JWICS network. A set of business rules verifies the data before ingested into TPA database. The data is then available for use in the Workflow, Trackman and LIMS tools.
DASSLE will consist of two subsystems: ELE, residing on the AFTAC Unclassified .GOV Network, and TPA, residing on the JWICS Network. Each subsystem comprises a Web-enabled user interface and middleware processes hosted on a WebLogic Application Server, as well as requisite schemas hosted on a database server.
10 years old Software (XML, JAVA, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Data
Integrator, Oracle Web Portal, Oracle WebLogic, PLSQL), Solaris UNIX Servers
24th ANS Trackman
Trackman is a software tool that interfaces users to the 24 ANS/ANN database and various directories. This allows users and data managers to save and access documents related to projects and some basic information from the database. The software acts as a virtual notebook, allowing users to track, put in sample descriptions and save photo documentation from sample processing.
~20 years old Software (Visual Basic 6), some off-the-shelf widgets Source code will be provided Windows OS System is scheduled to be replaced with LabVantage
Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) ~FY25.
24th ANS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
LIMS is a LabVantage software application that provides sample lifecycle functionality from sample to consumables.
Provides laboratory optimization to include dashboards, built-in search engines, on demand reporting and advanced analytics.
LIMS offers multiple components and functionalities that can be added as new requirements are provided by end users.
Software (JAVA, GROOVY, JBOSS EAP)
24th ANS Workflow
Workflow is a software interfacing tool that accesses 24 ANS/ANN’s database and allows users to view data, display data in various graphical forms and search the sample collection. Workflow provides graphical user interface to users for running nuclear reactor models and advanced algorithms in Java, C++ and FORTRAN
~15 years old Software (Java, C++, PLSQL, XML, Fortran)
24th ANS Tracker
Tracker is a software tool residing on the unclassified .GOV network. Tracker allows 24 ANS/ANN users to associate sample analysis requests with workorders, view data associated with analysis requests. The application allows users to rapidly apply business rules to generate data files which are delivered to customer. The tracker accesses a mission database but stores association and other metadata to a separate small Postgres database.
Software: Java, Groovy, Postgres

21 SURS External Data Ingestion System (EXDIS)
This software is still in development EXDIS is a software system with a public webpage that enables mission partners to securely pass data files to AFTAC.
Application allows admins to organize users in groups, determine what types of files can be uploaded by users in any given group, and what rules and order of rules to apply to any given file type
It employs a service architecture with a web front end that depends on a relational database
It can securely accept, store, and transfer CUI information It has been engineered for and currently functions on the AWS
GOV cloud in a development environment A graphical rules creator and editor is in development
What EXDIS Does
• EXDIS allows mission partners to securely upload laboratory data files to 21 SURS
• EXDIS allows mission partners to upload files to other mission partners
• EXDIS allows 21 SURS to securely upload files to mission partners
• EXDIS applies editable business rules to uploaded files
• Files that fail business rules are rejected with a failure message
• An error message tells mission partners what to fix and to re-upload
• EXDIS tracks all file transfer activity
• EXDIS also tracks all failed uploads to include who attempted this upload and why it failed
• EXDIS displays these metrics to its administrators for analysis of activity
