About this file
This document is an attachment to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Air Force Technical Applications Center Meteorological Modeling, Analysis, and Subject Matter Expertise (MMAS) II contract. It provides details on the various software and hardware components that will be used to support the 24th Analysis Squadron Meteorological Modeling and Analysis Flight under this contract. Key components include the AFTAC's Rapid-GPU Urban Modeling System (ARGUS), the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, the Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model, the EMS Decision Aid Product Tool (EDAPT), the Model for Prediction Across Scales (MPAS), the Model Evaluation Toolkit (MET), the Unified Post Processor (UPP), and the HYSPLIT Analysis and Research Toolkit (HART). The document outlines the software and hardware requirements for the 24th ANS High-Performance Computing (HPC) system that will host these modeling and analysis tools. The related federal contract opportunity is Solicitation Number FA702224R0005 for the Air Force Technical Applications Center Meteorological Modeling, Analysis, and Subject Matter Expertise (MMAS) II services.

24th ANS AFTAC’s Rapid-GPU Urban Modeling System (ARGUS) ARGUS is a TaK-based, cross-platform urban-scale modeling system, broken into two major components that communicate across the WebTaK enterprise sync handler:
Joules- Back-end numerical urban-scale model.
User Interface - Access, analyze, and manage model results through Graphical User Interfaces.
The system includes multiple user interfaces and several server components that allow data access and management over an Intranet environment comprised of UNIX-based servers and workstations and Microsoft Windows personal computers.
Software in Development Software (WebTaK, Python 3, Apptainer/SingularityCE, GeoServer, JOULES)
Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model
The WRF is a numerical weather prediction model, and is comprised of four components:
WRF model WPS preprocessor WRFDA, WRF ensemble system OBSGRID, observation processing software
Software (Fortran, C, NetCDF, HDF5, zlib, jasper, libpng)
Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model
HYSPLIT model is comprised of two components:
Transport and dispersion model Meteorological data converters
