5.1.1. PDS Distribution Boxes. Contractor will inspect all PDS distribution boxes in the ceiling to ensure that they are of the correct size to accommodate new break away kits for MTP/MPO before splitting to other areas. If any need to be replaced, that will be determined before the project starts. Boxes will need all joints and connection points sealed with a permanent epoxy.

5.1.2. Pull String. Contractors will ensure they install a ‘pull string’ through all existing junction boxes to end-user lock boxes (if none are present).

5.1.3. Fiber Labeling. Contractors will ensure that every fiber strand is labeled on each end that correlates with patch panel numbers, switch ports, or wall port numbers that they are plugged into on both sides.

5.2. Basement Requirements.

5.2.1. High-Density MTP/MPO Install.

There is not a requirement to install high-density MTP/MPO in the basement of Building 9480. The existing fiber will remain but will terminate fiber connectors as laid out in 5.2.2 on the whole floor.

5.2.2. MRTJ to LC Switchover. Replace existing MTRJ fiber connectors, that are not being replaced, to LC connectors at all end points. Replace fiber patch plates in PDS Lockboxes to use LC connectors.

5.3. First Floor Requirements.

5.3.1. High-Density MTP/MPO Install.

The Contractor shall test and locate the termination point of all SIPR fiber coming from Room 124A. All fiber needs to be documented and marked to ensure that fiber that does not require rerunning, does not get pulled or disconnected in the processes. The fiber termination locations and the decision to pull or leave the fiber will remain with the Government and permission to remove will be given before the removal of fiber.

The Contractor must pull back all previously identified SIPR fiber from all PDS lockboxes back to Room 124A. This fiber will be disposed of after it is removed. Contractor will install high-density MTP/MPO to support all previous users that had SIPR connection prior to the removal of fiber. The Contractor will install distribution panels or break away kits within the existing junction boxes in the ceiling at locations annotated on Page 2 of Attachment 1. Single fibers will then travel from distribution panels to the PDS lockboxes or desk/device to support users. All fiber will have the switch port number and wall port number annotated on the cable. Contractor must run DB loss test after installation to confirm connectivity and provide results to the Government.

The installation for this floor will be accomplished in multiple phases and will need to minimize downtime to the most extent possible. Timelines need to be communicated, and any changes will need to be presented as soon as possible to minimize impact to the users. Contractor will try and accomplish any work possible that does not require downtime before the network is disconnected to shorten timeframe that is required for users to be relocated.

The integrity of the PDS system must remain intact and ensure that security fiber, a single strand fiber installed in the PDS system lines, is undamaged in the process. All PDS lockboxes will have 6 ports terminated to support future growth. All fiber that does not go to a PDS lockbox and is still available in the distribution panel will not have a fiber running from that connection but will be terminated and plugged in for future expansion.

5.3.2. MRTJ to LC Switchover. Replace existing MTRJ fiber connectors, that are not being replaced, to LC connectors at all end points. Replace fiber patch plates in PDS Lockboxes to use LC connectors.

The Contractor must pull back all previously identified SIPR fiber from all PDS lockboxes back to Room 211A. This fiber will be disposed of after it is removed. Contractor will install high-density MTP/MPO to support all previous users that had SIPR connection prior to the removal of fiber. The Contractor will install distribution panels or break away kits within the existing junction boxes in the ceiling at locations annotated on Page 3 on Attachment 1. Single fibers will then travel from distribution panels to the PDS lockboxes or desk/device to support users. All fiber will have the switch port number and wall port number annotated on the cable. Contractor must run DB loss test after installation to confirm connectivity and provide results to the Government.

The installation for this floor will be accomplished in one phase and will need to minimize downtime.

5.4.2. MRTJ to LC Switchover. Replace existing MTRJ fiber connectors, that are not being replaced, to LC connectors at all end points. Replace fiber patch plates in PDS Lockboxes to use LC connectors.
