About this file
The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) K13592 seeking electrolysis and laser hair removal service providers for incarcerated individuals. The RFI, released on March 31, 2025, invites vendors to submit information about their services by June 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM. DOC is primarily interested in contracting with service providers to offer treatments at five specific correction facilities located in Airway Heights, Monroe, Gig Harbor, Walla Walla, and Aberdeen, Washington, with the possibility of transporting individuals to vendor offices if feasible.
The RFI is specifically focused on providing hair removal services for a small number of incarcerated individuals receiving treatment for gender dysphoria, as part of DOC's comprehensive healthcare program serving approximately 13,000 individuals. The document emphasizes that this is an informational request and does not obligate DOC to contract or issue a competitive solicitation. Vendors are advised that their responses are voluntary, and DOC reserves the right to explore multiple options for providing these specialized medical services. The RFI process allows DOC to gather information about potential service providers and determine potential contractual options without committing to a specific procurement at this stage.
