About this file
The document is a technical specifications Request for Bid (RFB) issued by Sacramento County's Community Services Agency, Department of Waste Management & Recycling for the purchase of up to two (2) new Two-Axle Terminal Truck Tractors for use at the County's North Area Recovery Station. The bid allows vendors to submit proposals for either a low-emission diesel vehicle option or a fully electric vehicle option, with specifications covering cab and chassis, engine and transmission, electric drivetrain, and warranty requirements. The tractors are intended for off-highway use and must meet various federal and state certifications, including motor vehicle safety standards, California Motor Vehicle Code, and industrial safety orders.
The technical specifications provide detailed requirements for both diesel and electric vehicle options, including specific performance metrics, warranty terms, and operational capabilities. For the diesel option, the specifications call for a Cummins Tier 4 Final engine with 173 HP, while the electric option requires a minimum 200 horsepower equivalent motor with 190 kWh battery providing at least 12 hours of run time. The warranty terms are comprehensive, offering five-year coverage for major components like the frame, transmission, and electric drivetrain, with specific conditions such as full battery replacement if capacity drops below 85% after four years. The bid emphasizes ergonomic design, noise reduction (80 dB at 50 feet), and includes provisions for vendor-provided training for County mechanics and operations personnel.
