About this file

The document is a Requirements List from the Department of the Air Force (AFSOC) at Hurlburt Field, Florida, detailing stringent certification standards for Military Oxygen Systems. The document mandates that organizations/facilities must be certified under DOT & METCAL (Meteorology & Calibration) and comply with MIL-STD-1330 (SH) for precision cleaning, testing, and calibration of oxygen systems. The US Navy's Office of Counsel (Naval Sea Systems Command-OOC) will inspect facilities and equipment to verify DOT/METCAL calibration and certifications.

The requirements emphasize extremely high-quality standards, specifically noting that MIL-STD-1300 represents the highest obtainable standard for 100% oxygen values, which very few organizations nationally can achieve. While MIL-STD-1622B is a common standard for oxygen/nitrogen or compressed air, this document highlights the need for more rigorous certification processes that fulfill quality assurance requirements outlined by NAVSEA OOC for tri-service applications.
