About this file
This document is a Request for One-Time Exemption from Competition submitted by the Idaho Military Division to the Idaho Division of Purchasing. The agency is seeking a five-year exemption to purchase $100,000 worth of Air Force firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE) from authorized vendors Atlantic Diving Supply and LN Curtis & Sons. Over the past five years, the agency has invested $60,000 in this essential commodity, and projects a requirement of $100,000 for firefighter PPE over the next five-year period due to inflation and growth. The exemption is necessary to comply with Air Force directives while fulfilling the critical need for proper firefighter protective equipment.
The document states that the United States Air Force mandates the agency purchase these required uniform items only through the specified authorized vendors. A previous one-year exemption was approved in June 2023 for $30,000. The agency has provided a list and description of the PPE items in the attachments.

| Cost attach quote: $100,000 over 5 years | |
| Background and Justification attach additional sheets as needed: We are seeking a five (5) year exemption to competition for $100,000 for Air Force firefighter proper protective equipment (PPE). Over the past five (5) years, our agency has invested approximately $60,000 in this essential commodity. Taking into account the cost of inflation and growth to the department, we project a requirement of $100,000 for firefighter PPE over the next five (5) year period. Adhering to Air Force regulations restricts our procurement options to Atlantic Diving Supply & LN Curtis & Sons. This exemption is necessary to comply with Air Force directives while fulfilling our critical need for proper firefighter protective equipment. The previous one year exemption was approved 6/15/2023 for $30,000. This equipment is essential for ensuring the safety and operational effectiveness of firefighting personnel in Air Guard facilities. A list and description of PPE items is included in the attachments. The United States Air Force mandates that we purchase these required uniform items only through specific authorized vendors, namely Atlantic Diving Supply and LN Curtis & Sons. This requirement is documented in the Memorandum for Record (MFR) provided in our attachments. | |
