About this file

This is a Department of Defense notification document regarding REAL ID compliance requirements effective May 7, 2025.

Beginning May 7, 2025, the US Army will require REAL ID-compliant identification for access to military installations and facilities, including for boarding domestic commercial flights. All Department of Defense-issued identification cards are REAL ID compliant, as are most state-issued driver's licenses. REAL ID-compliant cards display a star marking on the upper portion of the card. Individuals without a REAL ID-compliant card must present two forms of identification: a state-issued driver's license or state-issued ID plus one additional acceptable document, which includes U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, Department of Defense ID (including dependent IDs), federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian Tribe photo ID (including Enhanced Tribal Cards), HSPD-12 PIV card, Transportation Worker Identification Credential, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766), U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential, or Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). For a complete list of TSA acceptable identifications, individuals should visit tsa.gov/id. Individuals arriving at the installation without either a REAL ID-compliant identification or two approved forms of ID and documentation must be escorted to enter. Further questions should be directed to the Letterkenny Visitor Center at (717) 267-8003 or 8055.

REAL ID COMPLIANCE MAY 7, 2025

All Department of Defense-issued identification cards are Real ID Compliant. Most state issued drivers licenses are Real ID Compliant as well. Real ID-compliant cards will have a star marking on the upper top portion of the card. For individuals that do not have a real ID compliant identification, they will be required to present two forms of identification off of the list of approved ID and documents listed below:

State-Issued Driver’s License or State-Issued ID AND one of the following:

U.S. passport U.S. passport card U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents An acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian

Tribe, including Enhanced Tribal Cards (ETCs).
